Sorry for the posting delays I've had over the past few days! Entertaining a houseguest has been a lot of fun, but it didn't leave a lot of time for posting. So to get back into the swing of things, here's the P52 post I missed putting up on Friday!
As you've probably deduced from reading this blog, I now live on an island with a tropical climate. You just don't get "cabin fever" when you live somewhere that doesn't ever get cold (or for that matter, where it doesn't really get "hot", at least like we're used to back in Alabama). But with the elimination of one "con" comes the presence of another.
Oahu is not only an island; it's small (it can be entirely driven around in like 3-4 hours). You see that beautiful blue ocean in the picture (taken from the top of Diamond Head Crater)? It just keeps going. And going. And going. If that image doesn't evoke thoughts of island fever, I don't know what will!
Every person we've spoken to in regards to our move to Oahu have warned us against the potential of island fever, something I've yet to experience since I've always lived on the U.S. mainland. So far, we've been having a blast exploring all of the beautiful things Oahu has to offer, so we are feeling absolutely zero island fever. Hopefully we never will...but three years is a long time. So what's our strategy? We're taking things slowly. There really is a lot to do and see on this gorgeous piece of Earth, and we are taking our time with seeing everything. I feel we're going at a good pace, and we'll have plenty left to do a year or maybe even two years from now. I guess we'll see how our plan ends up working.
Are you experiencing any cabin fever so far this winter? (Ha, winter! I've already forgotten what that is...)
